I love their live versions which have more drive and grove. I used to loath Phish (even through college!) as friends would play their songs on the jukebox at the bar we went to. For their $1 we had to listen to 3 songs (and almost an hour) of live Phish songs! I didn't know the studio version, so why would I want to listen to a 20 minute interpretation of that? But, I had a good friend who actually sat down with me and walked me through the Phish 1's and 2's and I really came to appreciate their music! Often dismissed as a "stupid hippy band" by nay-sayers, Phish are AWESOME musicians who transcend many styles and forms. I really love them, and I loved them even more after watch Bittersweet Motel and I heard Trey talk about how they weren't trying to be the Grateful Dead. That was great because I think too many people believe they were trying to pick up all the deadheads, etc. Anyway, thanks for the musical comparisons!
