I found this one on the Märtzstraße the other day. Apparently an enterprising young artist decided that the Bankomat logo: needed a bit of a comic touch.

Der Arnold Apfel

I found this one in Styria, but I’m sure if you look hard enough, you can find them in Vienna as well. It seems as though running one of the greatest states in the US wasn’t enough, and Arnie is now selling apples in a box in Styria. After doing a bit of digging, I found arnoldapple.com.

Now this is all fine and dandy, and who would hold it against him to market his own name in conjunction with some healthy juicy apples? Not me. But here’s the kicker…each apples costs 1 euro (about $1.30)! The funny thing is…I couldn’t get it in the shot, but there was an entire bag of apples (8-10) right next to this display for about 2 Euro 50 cents. Ummm…that had better be one amazing Apple!

And speaking of hocking products in Europe…this one was too good to just pass by. Paris Hilton selling cheap ass champagne in a can. WTF? Ok, prosecco is really rather just sparkling wine, but rather ironic I’d say from the girl who denies heavy drinking.

Peter Petrelli is a Woman!?!

D’OH! Looks like someone in the props department forgot to give this one the final proof. In the weeks episode of Heroes, we see Peter Petrelli’s passport. Interesting to know his (or should I say her) birthday is December 23rd 1974, but it seems that our friend Peter is really Petra, as his/her sex is listed as F, at least according to Homeland Security (or is it the INS…who the heck issues passports these days?).
Oh well….as we keep finding out that Peter has more and more abilities that we never knew about, perhaps this is one of them as well? In that case, the Irish love interest is in for quite a surprise. Hmmm…perhaps a reverse ‘The Crying Game’?

Google Blackout

BigBlueBottle sent this one over to me with the heading…it’s a puzzle, hint…Javascript. So, doing what any self respecting geek would do, I turned off Java and hit refresh, only to find something even more perplexing: 37* 25? 38?, -122* 5? 57?

The 37* 25? 38?, -122* 5? 57? didn’t take me long to figure out, Longitude and Latitude coordinates. Find a reverse geocoder and plunk them in, and go figure….the coords are an exact match of Google’s headquarters, 1600 Amphitheatre Pkwy, Mountain View, CA 94043. OK, so now for the number countdown. This one took me a bit longer. Obviously it’s quite a large number, and running in reverse. So a quick trip to el calculator, divide by 60 to get minutes, again my 60 to get hours, next by 24 to get days, then a quick Google search of “How many days are left in this year“, and low and behold…the numbers match.

So in essence, what we’ve got here is…a dual function expression, one an expression of time, the other an expression of location. But what does it all mean?

Given the recent Lights out SF, and Google’s commitment to it, perhaps they are going to stage another? Perhaps this has something to do with Google’s phone? Perhaps this has nothing to do with Google at all, and the private registrant is having a great laugh watching blog posts and site visits shoot through the roof?

Found Humor – Vienna Edition

So here are just a coupla shots I got in my daily travels through Austria:

Got this one at Ikea in Vösendorf. On our way in to the store, I noticed this guy casually checking out the sofa on sale. I figured, oh, he’s just resting his eyes, no big deal…kinda sounds like a good idea right now. Well…an hour and a half or so later when we exited the store, the guy was still there, fully asleep. I just had to snap this pic. I wonder what time he actually woke up and decided to go home? Note to self; when in need of a comfy place to sleep where you won’t be disturbed…head to the nearest Ikea.

In the same shopping complex (SCS Wien) at the Spar supermarket, I was casually doing the weekly shopping. I’m walking along and minding my own business when this thing jumps out at me. Let’s just put it this way…Tex was not the first thing that my mind thought of. And not just that…but for only 3.99…such a bargain!
